Battle of Berlin, least I could have a genuine reason to be an axis female and armed
It'd also be the only scenario where all us old gits would have a reason to be running around in axis gear and armed too.
Seriously though, i'd love to play Volkssturm in an urban game. *looks on eBay for an overcoat and a volkssturm armband*
It'd also be the only scenario where all us old gits would have a reason to be running around in axis gear and armed too.

Dude, the average age of the German fighting man (Heer, Kriegs, Luft, SS) was FAR higher than it was on the Allied side!
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

I'm well off the bell curve for either side, I just fancy playing someone more like to myself; old, unfit and totally useless at hitting anyone at a distance.
Even as early as 1944, there were German soldiers in their 50s.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Mr Steiner, are you trying to tempt me back to the dark side?
Battle of Berlin, least I could have a genuine reason to be an axis female and armed
Dieselmonkey suggested a 'Spanish Civil War' game which would let you be female and armed.
We thought it would be great fun, bolt actions and pistols only, everyone in civvies!
Definitively one were considering for a game.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Id like another Holland based game. Hell's Highway?
Eagles Nest game?
Fall of the Reich?
Just a few idea's
a nice early game - Dunkirk perimeter, without the Stuka's of course.
Rifles, squad leader's with SMG, LMG crew's, mortar crew and runners - no radio's, runners and medics.
If enough PBI get their hallamshire kit together its a doer.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
kinda leaves US Airborne out though. I know its pretty limited as most US action was in the pacific.
All the more reason to diversify.
US players really have to accept that the US was only actively involved in the latter part of the war and to be honest was pretty pro German until about '40.
Only playing one unit *does* severely limit you, US airborne especially.
But remember the 'counts as' system means you could still play an early war brit or german at minimum expense.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Thats the major basis of my feelings against so many people going 101st. Its not that I dislike the unit, its just possibly the most limiting of all units when it comes to scenarios involving them. Its either Normandy (first 30 days anyway), Market Garden or TBoB and thats pretty much it. At least with 82nd you can do Sicily and Italy as well.
Thats the major advantage of alot of German kit (and some British)- a bit of camo to cover any unique insignia and you can be just about anything. Even those with type specific kit like FJ you can still portray any FJ unit necessary as there is no unit insignia. Russian is similar too except you don't even need the camo.
This thread is in real danger of becoming a bit stitch counter-y.
Aaanyhoo. Dunkirk is something I've always liked the idea of, but to be historically accurate it might be a bit boring for players, waiting for ages for the Germans only to watch them speed past in big tanks, then run back to a beach only to have to wait for days to get home.....if at all.
My grandad was a Redcap with the BEF and got captured. He was missing for 18 months and turned up in Gibraltar!!
Do Norway... then...
Dieppe raid could be a good one as a small contingent of US rangers took part in that alongside the commandos.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I'd love to see a Unternehmen Merkur (The invasion of Crete) game!
Axis: Fallshirmjagers, Gebirgsjagers, and Italians
Allies: Brits and Anzacs plus greek troops and civi resistance
Kit can be a mix of tropical and regular items for both sides.
As for a site, The Rock in portland would be perfect!
Would probably play best as a PBI style missions game, capture the airfield to allow resupply, hold the airfield against counter attack, etc.
The Rock would also be great for a Kasserine Pass game which would allow the yanks to play too.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Its a good one.
Again sort of rules out SS and US for Mercury.
Personally I'm in favour of occasionally saying 'no brits' or whatever if they simply were not there and wouldnt take it personally if say Gunman or CiA did a game where I couldnt take part if it made the game more immersive for those that could go. (besides I'd probably end up buying or borrowing the kit to go anyway)
Mercury is probably a lot more doable now a fair few folk bought tropical kit for Huskey.

I'd LOVE to do a Norway game, but we'd really need snow......lots of snow.
I've met the guys from this company: http://www.snowbusiness.com
They did the snow on BoB. It's a amazing stuff. I made a snowball from it. Here's a pic of one of the guys in action from a set visit last year.
They are VERY expensive though....
I'd love to find a decent sized sand quarry to do a North African campaign game in.
Its a good one.

True it would exclude the US but it wouldn't take much for the SS guys to do a passable gebirgsjager impression, feldgrau's and stick an edelweiss badge on your M43 cap would suffice.

That'll be The Rock then! Not huge but big enough!
